When I was around 10 I developed a passion for reading. I read anything I could get my hands on. The Hardy Boy’s were close at hand since my brother had some. I read all of the Hardy Boy’s in print. I also found The Three Investigators and Nancy Drew. These books really helped me feel like I was the detective in these stories. Louis L’Amour and other westerns were some other books I read. My dad really like Louis L’Amour’s westerns.
I remember switching over to science fiction and fantasy. Some of these were loved and some hated. I remember reading several of Isaac Asimov’s books and the robots that came to life in them. Some books I can still remember the content of them.
I remember once while on a vacation traveling with my family, I bought a B.C. Cartoon book and when I got to the car and opened it there was a western inside instead of the B.C. Cartoon book that the cover showed. This book was about a man who found himself out on the plain’s and waking up in a daze with no wallet or any kind of identification. He starts walking and makes it to a town. To not give away to much he discovers little by little he was a gun fighter. It has a surprise ending that makes it worth reading.
While working on a job delievering piano’s I picked up a book at a drug store the Final Foundation. I picked up a book since I was riding in the middle and had nothing to do until we got to the next customer. The Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov has some very deep ideas and very futuristic. The book held me spell bound. I liked it so much I went out an purchased all of the other books in the series.
I also liked a book the Stainless Steel Rat. I heard about this book in High School but for some reason never looked it up. I have now started writing articles at Yahoo! Network Contributor

A frequently asked question is, “What is the difference between roles and groups?”At different times in my career I have asked and been asked this question and I have even had different answers. The easiest way to understand the difference is to use an example. At a company you might have a group be Human Resources or Accounting. The roles Manager, Assistant Manager, Secretary, Executive Assistant would have different meanings. I might be a Manager in Information Technologies but I am not the manager of Payroll. The way I see roles and groups is that one defines a large group and the role defines what I can do in that group. I could be in the employee role in Payroll and the Manager Role in Information Technologies giving me different rights and responsibilities in each area. This is how I see the Roles vs Groups at this time.

Matthew 7
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
I hear time and time again from different people “Judge not”. Some people like to use this verse to cover up their sin. They tell the Christian and pastor to Judge not or don’t tell me what to do.

I have mentioned to several developers of late that they need to remember that the in the lifespan of an application 75-80% is maintenance of the application. When you add new cool features and new cool techniques you usually make maintenance harder. I recommend you keep it simple and to the point of what the client wants. The most important thing is to understand what the client wants. When you know what the client wants try to not over deliver or under deliver. You are not the client and there are reasons a client may not want the cool new feature. Even if finished in time there are things you might not understand.
The same goes with living for God. We need to stop sometimes and keep our lives simple and to the point. Find out what God wants. If you have not heard an audible voice then read his word. He gave us plenty of instructions there. Next we need to not try to add the new cool fads of religion. We need to follow what God wants not what we think he wants. If we try to over deliver we are out of God’s will. He may have a reason for where we are or what he has asked us to do that we do not know. I am sure Joseph would have been happy to be out of prison but God had a plan. Abraham and Sarah tried to help God but that was not God’s plan. Follow God’s plan for your life even if it does not seem cool. You never know where you might end up some day.
Just Do it.

What will you do? Remember those you love and respect while they are still alive. Great funerals are fine. When I see Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, Patrick Swayze, and other such stars, I understand why so many flock to their funerals.
I however think of the many ministers who labor each and every day that never have a big church or a big following. We could argue the reasons why but that does not matter. Take time to honor your minister on a day his family has NOT planned. Surprise them with a gift when they least expect it.
Remember if their children have holes in their shoes they might be busy praying for God to help them supply shoes for their children and not praying for your children to stay in church. Never forget ministers are human too.
The recipe to depression is to spend two minutes thinking about yourself. Take a moment and make sure you say something good about at least one person each day. We all can find something good to say to someone today.
What will you do?
